Susan Coulson

In addition to being an independent therapeutic educational consultant, I am a licensed drug and alcohol counselor (CADC) specializing in providing professional guidance to families, young adults, and adolescents struggling with mental health, behavioral, academic, and/or substance abuse issues. I work with families and programs all across the country, spending significant time touring and vetting programs as well as attending industry-specific events. I specialize in stabilization and assessment, residential treatment, therapeutic boarding schools, adventure and outdoor behavioral health, young adult transition, and therapeutic GAP experiences, and services include assessment, placement recommendation, case management, and wrap-around support. My unique life experiences allow for understanding and compassion, both for those suffering with addiction or mental health issues as well as their loved ones. My belief in the individual’s ability to replace their anxiety, confusion, and depression with hope, empowerment, and insight is a big part of what I hope to bring to clients and their families. In addition to TCA, I am a member of NATSAP (National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs) and the GAP Year Association.
